I have a 2009 Hyundai Elantra to trade in and I was interested in you Nissan Altima. I still owe some money on my trade in. Do I need to pay it off first?
No. You will be able to trade in your vehicle and we would make the pay off for you. Now, if your pay off with your current bank is less than what the trade is worth, you can apply the positive funds to the down payment of the vehicle that you are purchasing. If you owe more than it is worth, you may have to roll that amount into the new loan.
My credit is not so good and I am being told that I need a cosigner. Why is that and who would be the best cosigner?
Well depending on how bad the credit is, a bank may ask for a cosigner. This should be a person that is financial stable and is willing to vouch for you. This person will be equally obligated to the loan. Generally a parent is the best person to have cosign but other family members or a spouse can also be helpful.
Can I transfer my tags even if I do not trade my truck?
In the state of Maryland, you can. But there are weight rules when registering a vehicle and some tags are in different classes. So if you were trading a Ford F150, you would not be able to transfer the tags to a Toyota Camry. But by the same rules, you could not transfer them to a Chevy 3500 Silverado. The weight classes are all different. But generally speaking, you can transfer car to car or SUV to SUV.
What is a credit score?
This is sometimes referred to as a “Beacon Score” This score is generated by the different credit reporting agencies, Equifax, Experian and Trans Union. It is a scoring system that grades your credit, giving lenders the ability to know how likely a borrower will repay a loan. The score will range from 300 to 850. The higher the score, the more likely that you will receive a loan.
I have never had a car loan. I have an old civic to trade. What is next?
Well you can start by filling out an application HERE. Fast Lane Car Sales has an excellent first time buyers program that can help you. When you are finished with the application, just find your title to your trade and come on down to the dealership. We will then find a vehicle that fits your needs and we will take it from there.
